Reflection on 3 resources from 12 resources searched b4

Frankly, after evaluting the 1st resource, I am still not very clear about evaluating with the criteria. But after this 3 evaluation, I am very sure how to evaluate a website with criteria learnt at UIR. I also got to know more about the resources i searched b4. I mean i got to know more if the resources i searched b4 is really the website i was looking for. Most of them are met with the criteria but a few couldn't met. So, i would recommend anyone to learn the criteria from UIR to evaluate wheather the websites we found out is really the one or not...

Reflection on the experience of one evaluated website out of 14

Wa..This is the 1st time i ever evaluate a website according to Evaluation Criteria mentioned in lec 7 at UIR. At first, franky speaking, i have no idea how to evaluate a website.
I mean i used to like any website if either website interfaces or interesting topic is posted. But, after lec 7,I have got some ideas how to evaluate with some criteria such as coverage, authority, purpose, accuracy, currency an so on.
Finally, i have realized that all the website may not have enough information or full accessibility or free usage depending on particular websites. In fact, there is no perfect website ever online.

I would like to share 3 resources that i found out using 3 useful different research methods :

1) Search Engines
2) Meta search engines
3) Subject Directories

I, Robot (using Google search engine: www.google.com.sg)

Retrieved November 27,2006 from world wide web:
http://www.irobotmovie.com

Can u imagine how the robot can be transformed into real human beings? Sometimes they can even control human beings. This is one of most astonishing popular science action thriller movie that was shown on July 2004. Will Smith stared in this thriller inspired by the classic short story collection by Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. In the year 2035, robots are an everyday household item, and everyone trusts them, except one, slightly paranoid detective (Smith) investigating what he alone believes is a crime perpetrated by a robot. The case leads him to discover a far more frightening threat to the human race. The movie used a spectacular, state-of-the-art visual effects technique to bring a world of robots to life. Check it out the trailer here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/i_robot/
What if these robots seize our world in future? ( =.= )

CNN Robots News ( via 1st awarded Meta Search Engine: www.dogpile.com)

Retrieved November 27,2006 from world wide web: http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/10/30/science.robots.reut/index.html

There is no one who doesn't know CNN but there are a lots of people who won't believe the robots could become more smater if eyes can be put at the back of the robot's head for super vision. If the intelligent robots have "Omni-directional vision", they will be more skillful with their navigation according to the scientists latest research. Find out more at it's website mentioned above to know more about robot's enormous skills that can be improved.

Robot competitions ( with Subject Directories search: www.galaxy.com)

Retrieved November 27,2006 from world wide web:
http://www.robots.net/

The robotics addicted will find this website very useful to participate in challenging competition. New ideas, strategy and other latest information about robots can be obtained throughout updates. It can give everyone the encouragement & tactics to compet in robotic competitions to a CHAMPION. So, find out here more about robots if u want to catch up with others.

Reflection on Search Engines, Meta Search Engines & Subject Directories

In my opinion, these all are useful to search latest news, popular games, educational information, media resources, auctions and so on. Among three search engines, subject directories search have quite limited results. It can't show more related websites to ur search topics like search engines.

Although search engines are more useful than subject directories, sometimes it still can't give some rare information because each search engine will search topics typed itself only in its any database. Finally, meta search engines will give u any information that u want to find since it search ur desired "Information" throughout the search engines until it really can't find.

So, i would recommend all to use Meta Search Engines to get what u want to know in various sites as fast as possible.

Let me tell u some more about my second recommended websites and other websites.

2) By Jonathan Skillings ,Staff Writer, CNET News.com, "In Japan, People are robot too"
Retrieved Nov 7,2006 from www:
http://news.com.com/2008-11386_3-6122761.html

The author says that the robots in Japan are more like human being. They are inverted to stay as a company in family. He represents the difference between US and Japan in making robots. Japan tends to make robots to accompany as fellow being or followers and to entertain people for relaxation whereas US have a tendency to make robots as a mechanism to produce stuffs. U can see the different purposes of intelligent robots.

3) By Byron Spice, Science Editor, "Humanoid robots"
Retrieved Nov 7,2006 from www: http://www.postgazette.com/healthscience/20010618humanoidhealth2p2.asp

A humanoid robot is a robot with its overall appearance based on that of the human body.

In general humanoid robots have a torso with a head, two arms and two legs, although some forms of humanoid robots may model only part of the body.

Some humanoid robots may also have a 'face', with 'eyes' and 'mouth'. The author emphasis on University of Tokyo's devotion to making humanoid robots a reality.

4) US Department of Engergy, "Creating a robot colony"
Retrieved Nov 13,2006 from www:
http://www.eurekalert.org/features/doe/2002-01/dne-car053102.php

Robot colony is one type of autonomous intelligent communicative robots. It can detect colors, objects at different range depending on project designers & programmers. It can communicate with each others to do multi-tasks simultaneously.

  • Robotics and Human Systems Research on creating an army of small robots--a fleet of inexpensive mini-robots designed to work harmoniously to perform tasks too hazardous for humans

  • Some inspiration from nature, simple biological societies such as ant colonies and beehives to get one hundred robots to work together by creating large groups of small, disposable robots.

5) By SMF 1.0.1,Lewis Media, "Robots Forum"
Retrieved Nov 7,2006 from www:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/

This is the website for newbies to create a new robots as well as advanced users to discuss their doubt leaving message or online chatting. U can search thoughts and ideas about what software to use for ur desired robots and how to construct...what materials to use for hardware as well... This is my favourite forum that i used for my major project during SIP/MP at Temasek Polytechnic. Check this out if u need it for ur robots... Goodluck.. haha...

Reflection on new 4 websites and 1 forum about "Intelligent Robot"

Well, I'd got to know more about new innovative robots from different countries. I've got a lot's idea from forum that different people's views are posted with replies and questions.
It'd given me much more resources about how to create intelligent robot than i ever found out b4. Especially, from resource 4 mentioned above, i can predict more & more creating robots will be taking place in future to perform the activities that are too dangerous to be done by human being.
Last but not at least, in further future robots would be sent to other planets to conquer for human being and other habitant.

I'd to discuss about "INTELLIGENT ROBOTS" which was basic perception contributed to some parts of my SIP/MP project during 2.2 year at TP. Furthermore, i will present 'how robots are more skillful and useful in many areas'. U won't believe that robots can be "Pioneers" to our world as well as other planets to conquer in coming future. So, check it out at my blog wheather this event will really exist later.......

1) By Carlos Balaguer, "Climbing robots"
Retrieved at Nov 7,2006 from www:
http://roboticslab.uc3m.es/roboticslab/aplicacion.php?id_aplic=3

This is one of the intelligent robots which has been started research in the field of climbing robots since 1995. It work in difficult 3D outdoor environments and the gravity force has an important influence with respect the robots changes during its motion self-supported in the complex 3D structures such as bridges, skeleton of the buildings and so on. The locomotion system commonly comprises arms/legs that permit the robot's 3D mobility (gait). These mechanisms also enable the robot to support itself and guarantee its stability.

I will update the rest 4 websites later... Any way, i am sure u will find it interesting....hahaha :)
